There is no heaven. Hell doesn’t exist. After death, there will be nothing. All a person truly has is these 70–80 years of earthly existence.
So, what is the meaning of this brief and irreversible life? The answer is simple: since we were lucky enough to be born into this world and live this life, we should get the most pleasure out of it and strive to live happily.
But what is happiness? Happiness is different for everyone. For some, it’s enough to have a roof over their head and food on the table. For others, it’s about building a family, raising children, and seeing their grandchildren. For some, happiness lies in dedicating their life to a passion. Others seek happiness in fame, wealth, or power. However, in all these cases, true happiness cannot be achieved alone. We are social beings, and our lives are always intertwined with those of others.
To receive good things from others, we must first give something in return.
If a person wants food and shelter, they must work and earn a reward for their labor. With that money, they can buy food and pay for housing.
If someone wants love and care from their family, they must first show love and care to their loved ones. Friendship and loyalty work the same way: to earn trust and support from friends, one must first demonstrate their own loyalty.
Fame, success, and recognition are also the results of an exchange. A person must first sweat through countless hours of training or rehearsal and share their talent with the public before gaining fame and popularity in return.
Thus, the meaning of life is to live it happily. To achieve this, one must receive good things from others. And to do so, one must first share goodness and make the lives of others better. The secret to happiness is simple: be happy yourself by doing good for those around you.
