Ethnicity or Citizenship?

Some believe that ethnic affiliation is more important than citizenship. That a Kazakh from the USA or France is closer than, say, a Russian, Ukrainian, or German who is a citizen of Kazakhstan.

But I think differently. For me, citizenship outweighs nationality.
And for us, as citizens of Kazakhstan, this should matter more than any ethnic differences.

We should feel …

Strangers’ Orders

Imagine living in an Islamic country, for example, Saudi Arabia. You have your own rules and customs that are hundreds of years old, and you strictly adhere to them.

One day, refugees from another country, for example, Israel, come to your country. They ask for your help, appealing to your human compassion and humanity. They say there is a war …

Nationalism is love for one’s nationality, the desire to develop a culture and language, to honor its history.

I respect healthy nationalism, regardless of where it comes from. If a Russian Kazakhstani speaks their native language, reads Pushkin and Dostoevsky, plays the balalaika, or celebrates Maslenitsa, I see nothing wrong with it. If a Kazakh of Chechen nationality speaks Chechen, …

U.S. Hegemony and Democracy

Do not confuse American foreign policy and democracy.

U.S. intervention in the internal affairs of other countries is outrageous.

But this does not negate the greatness of democracy and does not justify dictatorship.

Under the guise of fighting U.S. hegemony, dictatorship sets its citizens against the American way of life, including democracy, government turnover, and freedom of speech.

Do not …

Nationalism – good or evil?

The national theme is relevant in Kazakhstan today.

And, probably, will be relevant as long as there live many nationalities, that is always.

People argue with foam at the mouth, but often use the same words, giving them different meaning or different emotional tinge.

     Let’s take the word “nationalism”.

     Some …
